Bill: Call for early elections, September 3639

Details

Submitted by[?]: Beluzian Syndicalist Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill requests an early election. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline. Elections will be held immediately if the bill passes.

Voting deadline: May 3640

Description[?]:

We, the Beluzian Syndicalist Party, call for elections at the earliest opportunity, noting that:

- Beluzia has been without a majority government for over a year.
- Every cabinet proposal submitted thus far, from the Left and from the Right, has failed.
- No Cabinet proposal can be successful without being approved by the Grand Consul (a Liberal Socialist)
- The Liberal Socialists have abstained on every bill presented to the Assembly since 3636, including Cabinet proposals where their approval was essential.
- Attempts to amend the constitution to allow the formation of government by Assembly majority have failed, and are now impossible to pass with the disappearance of Left Coalition (requiring a 2/3rds majority).

We therefore call for early elections, in the hope of also electing a new Grand Consul who will allow a cabinet to be formed which represents the majority will of the Assembly.

As a gesture of good faith - should this motion pass - we pledge that we shall support the cabinet proposals of whichever party grouping can best reach a majority in the new Assembly.

MessageTo pass this proposal requires the support of all three activist parties in the Assembly. Neither ourselves, Stanton House, or the Beluzia First Coalition benefit from the status quo. All of us are locked out of power despite potentially having the numbers to form a government.

We entreat our friends in Stanton House and the Beluzia First Coalition to vote in their own self-interest and to support us in this motion.

MessageWe have to question why once again the Beluzia First Coalition vote for their own continued opposition? No cabinet can be formed and dissolution remains the only solution to this deadlock. The people of Beluzia cannot wait through another three years of abstentionist government.

Random fact: Moderation will not approve a Cultural Protocol request within the first 48 hours of it being requested. This is in order to give other players a chance to query the proposed changes, if they wish to do so. Moderation may be approached for advice on a proposed change, but any advice proffered should always be understood under the provisio that no final decision will be made until at least 48 hours after the request has been formally submitted for approval.
