Message | Not really. The stations themselves choose. And I'm pretty sure the stations would lose business to do that. TV stations are too concerned about making money, if they do outrageous stuff, they won't make money - they'd lose it. Think about it. The market will work itself out. If they do stuff the consumers don't like, they'll lose more money than they make. Thus, there already is that regulation there without having to create another government bureau. Plus, as for the nudity, there are TV parental locks for a reason. It will lock out channels with nudity and thus keep it away from kids. And, no, not all channels have nudity. The argument about sex images on the 9 o'clock news is ridiculous. For one, sexual content is already regulated. Another reason is that not all channels choose to have nudity. Nudity only appeals to a limited market and arguably turns off more people than it appeals to. Therefore, especially in conservative Ultran, only limited channels have nudity. I protect the right for those channels to show nudity just as much as I protect the right for people to block them. Regulating is the first step to controlling the media. Where's the line drawn? Only pro-government advertisements shown? What then? Regulate other forms of free speach? Arrest people for speaking out? Become like Deltaria was? |
