Bill: Coalition Energy, Movement and Abode Bill

Details

Submitted by[?]: New Beluzian Movement

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 3643

Description[?]:

From Saecenne Mae-Fourten, head off the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport:

"For too long has Beluzia suffered from a ridiculous housing shortage which has affected families within Beluzia. Fewer people are able to have children due to the unavailability of new family houses. The market has its place, but not in housing, and so, we need a new public housing policy. Take away housing concerns and, I think, we create a new base for artistic expression and population expansion.

I also think this environmental power research is ridiculous. We are wasting money on this which could be cut to save money for our housing scheme, and could be devolved to local regions. As such, I think we should give local regions autonomy to decide how they want this, as some are very skeptical as to the benefits of this so called "green" research.

I think we should have the power to seize whichever land we wish (with adequate compensation, of course). We were voted for, we are the ones who were trusted, not the tedious nouveau riche who hoard land and only contribute to our stagnation. Therefore, I propose we be allowed our right as the new face of Beluzia, to take control of whatever we wish, fairly paid for, for the benefit of our cultural regeneration, and to contribute to our grand housing scheme..

Lastly, we need to both cut down costs, and rejuvenate our transport system. Therefore, we propose the licensing of private competitors next to our national rail provision, allowing us to further save costs for our new housing scheme, and to keep us on our toes. "

MessageAt present we would have to oppose this bill, due to objections to all four proposals.

MessageTypical. If there is no resolution to this, we would like to put this to a vote in the house, so that we have some individual distinction between groups in parliament. We could separate the proposals into separate bills. Ultimately, we felt there would be some agreement with a publicly funded housing policy. What is the objection of the Syndicalists to article three?

MessageWe feel that the proposals on eminant domain and public housing grant too much power to the state over the private individual. In both instances we fear that this is power which could easily be abused by a future government - for instance to impose racial or political discrimination in the provision of housing, or to seize land on behalf of corporate donors.

As Syndicalists we campaign to grant individuals freedom and autonomy against their capitalist bosses. We cannot let them pass from one form of economic serfdom to another. Let people own their own homes and enjoy security of tenure.

MessageWe remind the Syndicalists that the eminent domain requires a neutral 3rd party judgement to renumerate for the market value of these houses. Public housing can also include the so called "social enterprises" or housing cooperatives. Ultimately, our housing shortage is restricting our development. We also need to pay for this new project, and we feel that the inordinate amount we spend on infrastructure needs to bring us more economic return, to pay for our revitalising projects, some private competition from the wealth hoarding cadres would pay us for our investment. Our future rests in our proposals.
