Bill: Encourage inventiveness and invention disclosure in our society

Details

Submitted by[?]: Parti Minarchiste

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 3648

Description[?]:

It is crucial that we

a) Encourage indiviudals or firms to create inventions
b) Encourage these actors to disclose their invention to society such that society may benefit from the invention

Without a limited period monopoly there is no reason to disclose an invention and as such no reason to engage in research and development. This puts us behind our competitors.

MessageThere is a good reason for that. Patenting should be for an invention. A software design can merely be a way of displaying a previously known invention. A mathematical formulae or scientific theory is not an invention - it is merely a discovery.
