Description[?]:

Cultural Protocols – 3650

Geography and Climate:
Malivia is in a tropical region on the southern end of the continent Artania. Aside from the mountains and highlands of the country’s interior (Walkunia), most of the country is low-lying coastal jungle. Eighty percent of Malivia’s population lives in these coastal regions. Malivia is bordered to the north by Darnussia and Hobrazia.

History:
Malivia was first formally organized through colonial efforts of Dundorf. Consequently, the country has a substantial minority of people who are of Dundorfian ancestry. Throughout the years, Malivia has gone through multiple cycles of dynastic families, replaced by anti-monarchist republics, only to see new dynastic families rise. After a complete takeover by Communist elements in 3576, rightist groups in Malivia, including the Dundorfian minority and various religious groups, banded together to drive the Communists from power and restore the monarchy. The Dundorfian Gottbergen family has ruled Malivia since 3582 (68 years), and the current monarch is Christian II.

People:
The Malivian people are based on those who reside in RL South Asia and speak a similar language. However, the Gottbergen dynasty has used the power of the state to push the introduction of the King’s native Dundorfian (German) language and Hosian (Christian) faith.

Census of 3650
Population: 99,551,385
Race: (numbers from 3630 Census):
Malivians: 79.1% (80%)
Dundorfians: 12.3% (11%)
Alorians: 3.8% (4%)
Hobrazians: 2.2% (2%)
Luthorians: 2.6% (2%)
Notes: The racial makeup of Maliva remains fairly stable. Government policies have encouraged Dundorfian immigration (most of these being right-leaning people fleeing from their socialist fatherland) and a high reproductive rate among Dundorfian citizens. As a result, Malivia continues to become slightly more Caucasian in complexion but remains an overwhelmingly ethnic Malivian country.

Language:
Malivian Only: 22.7% (31%)
Malivian, Dundorfian: 59.8% (52%)
Malivian, Dundorfian, Luthorian: 11.1% (11%)
Dundorfian Only: 5.9% (4%)
Other: 0.5% (2%)
Notes: Immigration and aggressive government pushing of the Dundorfian language has resulted in more than 3 in 4 Malivians being fluent in Dundorfian. The native Malivian tongue has given little ground, however, as more than 90% of Malivians still speak the language native to their land.

Religion
Geraja (Hinduism): 62.3% (68%)
Church of Malivia (Evangelical Lutheran Christianity): 21.5% (17%)
Aurorian Patriarchal Church (Roman Catholicism): 3.6% (3%)
Other Hosian (Christian): 0.6% (0)
None: 7.2% (7%)
Other: 4.8% (5%)
Notes: Various government policies restricting the activities of non-Hosian religions continue to take their toll as the native Geraja faith, once followed by 95 million Malivians has shrunk to just over 60 million. The Church of Malivia hit 20 million members, while the Patriarchialists continue to convert the rural and non-Dundorfian speaking Malivians that the CoM largely ignores. Foreign missionaries carrying largely a charismatic form of Hosianism appeared on the continent and have thus far converted over half a million Malivians to their faith. Overall, Hosians now account for more than a quarter of all Malivians.

Finally, after this census, we will be moving to census intervals of 25 years, instead of 20.
