Voting deadline: January 3970
Description[?]:
Not sure if you all will find this appealing, but since you've got me on such a Solentian history kick, all my memories of this place have been kicked up again and I figure this might be fun. This thread will serve as a place for those of us with memories or things we appreciate about Solentia or its community to reminisce fondly (or not so fondly) about times of old. This will be a place where that age-old Solentian tradition of popping online without reactivating after years away from the game to see if anyone has ruined the place yet can be embraced. I invite you, old players and new, to say hello, leave a note that you were checking in, or leave a happy memory... Or leave that scathing remark you always wanted to sling at Zanz but never did. Anyway, I hope that this might function to help newer players realize the amount of meaning Solentia has imbued in it for many of us, whether we've played here long term or only a short while. It's interesting and somewhat unique to Solentia that many of us seem to keep coming back to stop in after long periods away. I think that's something good about this place, and I think we should enshrine it here! With that, begin! |

Message | I want to preface my first post with an explanation: I began playing in Solentia May 26, 2007. SEVEN YEARS AGO. And here I am. At that time, I had JUST turned 16, and I had played maybe a few days in Sekowo before setting out to Solentia with the intent of restoring that dreaded ideology, Nuncirism, to power at the behest of Imperium, an old Solentian player with a chip on his shoulder. That never happened, though it did make my relations with SenorNoPants (FIP), who had just overthrown a Communist dictatorship in Solentia, rocky from the start, and that could probably describe our relationship for quite some time fairly well. "Rocky." Definitely. I besieged his party headquarters with my militia and tried to kill his leadership. I got warned by IdioC the mod at the time for demanding that the FIP disband his party... My only official warning in seven years. I want to say again in my defense that I was 16. I apologize, I knew not what I did. I wish that thread still existed, I'm sure it was hilarious. We lost a lot when we lost the Takeforum. Some of you may remember that FIP was renowned for having a close IRL friend who played in Solentia and never contributed much to debates, just toed the FIP line and gave him crucial support. One of my favorite memories of all time was when I convinced the IP (FIP lapdog) to vote against (!!!) the FIP's line on a matter of something on foreign policy. I was trying to get the country to open up some (as I always was) and I obviously ran into the FIP on this, and I needed the IP to break to get it past. I spent literally hours with him on AOL Instant Messenger (lol) convincing him that the bill was not so bad as SenorNoPants made it seem, and all the parts of the act he was reluctant on could be amended, etc., etc., and he BROKE. I had never, ever been able to do it before. To make a player betray his closest ally was one thing, but to make him betray an IRL friend on something the FIP had throw itself fully into opposition to was an incredible victory. I was ecstatic. I spent a while just now trying to find the bill again, but I can't seem to find it. It may have been with another party that I wrote it... If I find it I'll be sure to post. |

Message | Well no offense to Matty but my greatest memories were bringing down the Liberal-Democratic party alliance in 3383:Worked with the FIP and ULP to bring down the Clarke dictatorship and creating the only Mercantile Republic in Terra. It was fun and I hope my newest stay here would be better :) |

Message | Even in my short time here there are too many to list separately . The one that instantly stands out was having my grand Dranland-Solentia Treaty attempts frustrated. Especially Zanz's attack add on the forums was a classic |

Message | Believe it or not, Zanz, I was in Solentia before you. You won't be so pleased when you hear what I did here, though. Yep - cat worship/Felinism came to Solentia long before it came to Barmenia :). See http://classic.particracy.net/viewparty.php?partyid=2828 I also spent a brief time here as the similarly wacky Feminist Autonomous Collection. Message | favorite memory would probably the Heritage Coalition managing to push back against the Federal Republican Party and their bloc. That kind of set the tone for a long time. I think SenorNoPants finally kicked me out of the coalition, but since this is fond remembrances, I won't go into that. Other fun memories would be People Party Wierdness. and Sue's Corner, I still don't get what that was about. |

Message | My favorite part, atleast it started that way, was when everyone had left and I had free reign from 3598 to 3640. It ended up getting boring though. I believe I've been on and off particracy since 2010. |

Message | Quite enjoyed coming back to read all of this. The Dual Governance crisis is one moment that sticks in my mind; two opposing interpretations of who was in command of the county led to some of the best RPing our little community has ever seen. |
