Bill: Electoral Financing Act of 3674
Details
Submitted by[?]: Progressive Workers of Gaduridos
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 3675
Description[?]:
The PWG proposes to introduce a level of constraint in the amount of influence financial donations have on political parties, especially during elections. While the PWG would like to see that all campaigns are publicly funded and no donations allowed, we also realise that this might be a difficult position for other parties in Congress. The PGW therefore would like to open a debate in the matter, and if possible reach a non-partisan consensus somewhere between the current law and the PWG's original proposal as below. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Public financing of political campaigns
Old value:: Campaigns are never publicly financed.
Current: All candidates receive public funds but are not allowed to accept donations.
Proposed: All candidates receive public funds but are not allowed to accept donations.

Message | To the Conservative Party, the PWG also do not believe that taxpayers should be funding political campaigns. But the alternative is that politics will be influenced by money from interest and lobby groups (and mind you, that is including right-wing AND left-wing lobby groups). Considering the alternative, the PWG (and yes, we have many taxpayers in our ranks) chooses to have campaigning funded neutrally. OOC: Because the parties cannot find common ground, I will move this forward to voting anyways for political position and visibility. |

Random fact: Parties have the ability to endorse another party's candidate for the Head of State election (if there is one). This adds a strategic element to the elections. |
