Message | Mr. Speaker, The LSP opposes this bill only in part. We fully support Article 2 and believe that the national government should have a strong hand in the industries that are responsible for our national defense. We regret that we are again forced to oppose this measure because it is coupled with another to which we are opposed. The current law regarding energy production is the natural compromise between private industry and government regulation. Tipping this balance so heavily in the direction of government control will lead to corruption and stagnation within this vital industry. No more would we support a proposal to completely deregulate the energy sector. As this is a proposal from the current government we realize it will pass. We urge the voters to see the error here and correct it at the polls. Neal Burch, LSP Leader |
