Bill: Local Governance Reform Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Orange Alliance

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 3678

Description[?]:

"The Orange Alliance has championed many reforms over the last legislative term. We have guided and introduced changes to the constitution including the lowering of term limits and the increase in the number of peoples representatives - to name a few.

Our target in the upcoming election is a blod one - to claim 10% or more of the national vote, a 9% increase on the last results.

Why do we believe this is achievable?

Because we are the party who have shaken up the state of the nation. From the ground up we have been tireless in our pursuit of reform, and not just reform for the sake of it, but reform that has empowered the people in their locality to have greater input into national and local decisions. We have begun to reverse the trend of contradictory legislation which has held the nation in a schismic state of confusion for years.

We are the party who long to see change, and change that will last.

Today in the house I will introduce our newest reform that will empower local authorities further to take decisions of their governance into their own hands. Too much has come from Haldor in recent years, our Capital has become a chokehold of lawyers, and bankers and officials but instead we long to release the power back to the states, to the towns, villages and cities of Kordusia, Mothar, Dorvan, Miktar and Largonia.

I can also announce today that the Orange Alliance has chosen me once more to run for President on the Orange Ticket. I am honoured to fight this race once more and I hope that President Meissner is ready for a tough fight.

When it comes to February 3679 you will have your voice heard and we will know for certain whether the Orange Policies have been the right policies for the people of Dorvik.

Thank you."

Leader of the Orange Alliance Mrs. Sarojini Kumal speaking to supporters today in Fairfax.

MessageAs we already stated during the discussion of the Tobacco and Alcohol Reform Bill the Orange Alliance will achieve nothing with their proposals but cause a bureaucratic mess in the best case and the separation of the Dorvish nation into a number of regional states. The agenda of the Socialist Party is to bring the people of Dorvik together and unite them, not to encourage the differences between them to grow by allowing everyone to do what they like.

MessageMr. President,

You may see it as uniting the nation, but I see it as stifling the spirit of enterprise. How can the government in Haldor effectively speak for the citizens of Trent City in Miktar on every matter? Some decisions must be released into the hands of local knowledge and culture.
