Description[?]:
In order to protect our civilian transportation ships, and mostly crucial transports, we suggest to use a part of our Defence budget to build and maintain a flottila to protect and escort these ships. We have found 3 second hand corvettes, which would cost us 2 billion dollars to acquire and get ready to be used. We ask the Presidium to use 2 billion LOD of de Defence budget to acquire these vessels. Magriete Gevare Defence Specialist for P&A |

Message | Mr. Speaker, I think the Presidium's approval is necessary to get permission for the military to protect and escort civilian ships, but I believe the Military High Command should be responsible for the finer details of it. -- Nikolai Mihaylov, GNRG Spokesman on Defence |

Message | Mr. Speaker, the Military High Command should be consulted, but we believe the Presidium should give its approval for building or buying ships. We do also believe that the core crew of these ships should be fulltime sailors, so there would be an amendement to the current law on military needed. Maybe there are other solutions but we don't see any at this moment. Dimitri Dewitte Incumbent Minister of Defence |

Message | Mr. Speaker, Reserves don't just sit in their houses all year-round. They have to do service, but it is less often than active troops. Naval reserves could handle this, or we could have the paramilitaries being the ones in control of the escort ships. The Presidium can give approval for the idea, and the Presidium has already approved the budget. The number of ships to build or buy, along with other finer details, is something the Military High Command should vote on once the Presidium approves the general idea. -- Nikolai Mihaylov, GNRG Spokesman on Defence |

Message | Mr. Speaker, indeed, as GNRG states, there are some options. We believe the Presidium should handle the question about who should man the ships and who should do it. We could go for the reserves but then we have to think about continuancy of service. Anyone else has some proposals? Dimitri Dewitte Incumbent Minister of Defence |

Message | Mr. Speaker, We could just send one set of reserves each month, and they wouldn't have to do service again until the following year. -- Nikolai Mihaylov, GNRG Spokesman on Defence |

Message | Mr. Speaker, we agree, but don't forget that personnel on board has to be trained in firing, damage control, fire fighting, navigation and so on. Dimitri Dewitte Incumbent Minister of Defence |

Message | Mr. Speaker, Reserves aren't random people that lay back waiting for an invasion. Reserves are well-trained soldiers who aren't on active duty. They still serve time occasionally, as they're required to do. -- Nikolai Mihaylov, GNRG Spokesman on Defence |

Message | Does the current Minister of Defence feel something for this idea? Or does he think this idea is scrap? |

Random fact: Players who consent to a particular role-play by acknowledging it in their own role-play cannot then disown it or withdraw their consent from it. For example, if player A role-plays the assassination of player B's character, and player B then acknowledges the assassination in a news post, but then backtracks and insists the assassination did not happen, then he will be required under the rules to accept the validity of the assassination role-play. |
Random quote: "A return to first principles in a republic is sometimes caused by the simple virtues of one man. His good example has such an influence that the good men strive to imitate him, and the wicked are ashamed to lead a life so contrary to his example." - Niccolo Machiavelli |
