Message | Mr. Speaker, I led a congressional delegation down in our southern border to witness the immigration process. My committee published a full report, but I'll sum it up briefly right now. For civilians, the process was fairly simple. You showed your visa and passport and you were all set to go on. However, in station buildings along these points of access, we saw foreign missionaries who had not registered with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and were held in custody until they did so. We also saw foreign missionaries who did indeed fill out and register with the Ministry, but could not move on because the Ministry was not able to review and approve of it. I ask that Congress move forward to allow foreign missionaries to enter our nation in the same way as civilians do. It is an infringement on religious rights for our government to target foreign missionaries. David Vilner (U-Ultran) Union Study Committee Chairman |
