Bill: Prison Labour Reform Act (Modified)
Details
Submitted by[?]: United Liberal Alliance
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 2052
Description[?]:
Telamon today is a modern, liberal and tolerant society, yet we have a Stalinist prison system of forced labour. This we feel must end as prisoners also have rights. Therefore this bill will give prisoners the right to work and be paid should they wish to, but recognises that those who do not wish to work cannot be forced to. Sorry it's submitted for a second time but realised that the last one didn't actually have a proposal!!! |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change Prison policy concerning prisoner labor.
Old value:: Able-bodied prisoners have to work during the day.
Current: Prisoners can do certain jobs in prison, voluntarily, for a small wage.
Proposed: Prisoners can do certain jobs in prison, voluntarily, for a small wage.

Random fact: Cabinet ministers who disagree seriously with the head of government would usually be expected to resign. Parties within the cabinet may attempt to manoeuvre to replace the head of government though, for example by proposing a new cabinet bill or voting for an early election. |
