Message | Mrs. Speaker, we understand your thinking and we support your opinion. On the other hand, we were thinking that alcohol is a part of the path towards adulthood. Those underaged should be aware of the possible dangers and consequences of alcoholconsumption. We should think this through very carefully. At this moment, our party doesn't have a clear stance on this matter yet. Alexander Desmedt Minister of Health and Social Services |

Message | Mr Speaker. Our party doesn't have any major issue with alcohol. It is mainly the health concerns of a 14 or 15 year old blacking out etc due to alcohol consumption. Not too mention the other health concerns in the future. Tracey Jingoz Spokeswoman on Health/ Social Services |

Message | Mrs. Speaker, we understand. This all makes perfect sense to us. But prohibiting something to a certain group of people will lead to potential abuse in the long run. Eventually, when reaching adulthood, the prohibition doesn't apply anymore. Because they have never known the dangers of alcohol, it could well be that they will overconsume or abuse alcohol afterwards. We read you on the dangers of allowing youngsters to drink. Therefore we believe that everything should be done to demotivate the use of alcohol by youngsters. Maybe that will be more efficient than a prohibition. Message | Mr. Speaker, The prohibition will only cause the kids to be more curious to try it. My party will not support this bill as it is now. -- Guillermo Bernard Morales, GNRG Spokesman on Health & Social Services |
