Message | Mr Speaker. Our party agrees with the first two articles. However the 3rd article we believe is fine as is. We believe Prisoners should be treated like prisoners. They have committed crimes and are there for a reason. And they must work. And build. Etc. We hope this work method makes them rethink repeating criminal activity. Message | Mr. Speaker, In the spirit of the new session and hopefully making the proposal more palatable to the assembled body, our party will drop the section regarding prisoners rights. While we still hold that it is unjust to keep people in bondage in any circumstance, the general will moves us to drop it. Note this in future debates. Message | Mr. Speaker, We must note that "child labour" isn't child slave labour; it is allowing children to get jobs to earn extra money, but these children have additional labour rights compared to adult labourers, to prevent them from exploitation, and to ensure that they are being properly rewarded for their effort. -- Henry Huddleson, Justice Minister |

Message | Mr. Speaker, we are confused. You call this bill 'Free Labor Act', but you tighten the law instead of freeing the labour market when we look at the first article. Clothilde Dewitte P&A spokeswoman |

Message | Mr. Speaker, A couple of quick points. Firstly, by free labor we mean free in the sense of freedom and the ability to choose without duress. "Child labor" is defined in the research we conducted to generally mean "work that harms children or keeps them from attending school. " In that children cannot vote and are considered under the care of parents or the state, they are not free labors. It is not simply defined as minors earning a wage or working in free time. That being said, in the interest of the major objective of this law, the abolition of slavery, we will drop the proposal relating to the regulation of child labor. The new act will be put to a vote in a little while. XXX Joyce Carlyle Spokesperson for Internal Affairs |

Message | Mr. Speaker, That is not what child labour has meant in Lodamun. This "research" apparently wasn't conducted by a Lodamese institution, or conducted on Lodamese society. It doesn't keep them from attending school. That is how the "with additional regulations" part of the law is relevant. It is, by Lodamese precedent, defined as minors earning a wage for working in their free time. That is the major distinction between having special regulations for them, and not having special regulations for them. If we never had special regulations, they would be treated as adult labourers and be required to work as much as adult labourers, which would interfere with their school time. We still do not support this bill. -- Henry Huddleson, Justice Minister |
