Message | Madam Prime Minister -- We believe that the central government must exercise more control over how and where our money is kept--too many privately run banks have caused our interest rates to run amok, and it is time to reel this in. We urge our colleagues to pass this sensible, citizen-protecting bill. Sincerely, Markus Holfield |

Message | But it's not your money and thus have no right to exercise control over it. The money in the banks are the property of whichever citizen earned it and placed it in the bank. Stopping a company from being successful is wrong and could damage the economy. |

Message | Madam Prime Minister -- We would argue that government owned banks are more stable and more safe, and therefore the money of our citizens would have protections not offered in private banks. Of course the money is not the governments -- it is the people's who deposit the money in the banks -- but the central large banks will allow more stability for the economy and more assurances for the future. We will not move this bill forward for a vote yet since there seems to be active debate -- and we welcome more voices heard on the matter before we do so. We'd also like to respectfully remind the UPR that our Prime Minister is now female, and as such, she should be addressed appropriately. Sincerely, The Steel and the Gray |

Message | Madam Speaker People tend to like options, and this proposal would take that away from the banking system. Plus, If Ever someone began to embezzle the money from inside the government, they would be able to hide their tracks by taking small amounts from different banks. If the people lost faith in the banks OR the government then their would be runs on the bank even if the people still held faith in one of the above establishments. |

Random fact: Did you know you can change the official name of your nation? All you need to do is draw up a new name that is in accordance with the Nation Renaming Guide, pass a bill proposing the name change with a two-thirds majority and then post a request to Moderation on the "Renaming Requests" thread. You can change city and region names in this way too. |
