Bill: Minimum Income

Details

Submitted by[?]: Telamon Social Democratic Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 2165

Description[?]:

Currently the minimum income guaranteed by the state is only guaranteed for a limited period of time and is on the level of basic subsistance. As a result some citizens are regularly left without means to fill even their most basic needs.

The definition of basic subsistance also contains only the necessities to survive alive (pay for some food and shelter). In the long run our nation needs as high a portion of the population as possible to earn their livelihood through employment. Merely keeping people alive while unemployed does not maintain their employability even if keeps them alive for the limited period that they are guaranteed a very basic subsistence income by the government. This is not economically reasonable. We should raise the level of minimum income to ensure, that the Telamon workers are at the disposal of our economy even after periods of unemployment.
