MessageMr. Speaker,

We find it hilarious that the Democratic Alliance considers that having laws on adultery and crossdressing would reflect progress in "civil liberties" issues. As it stands, we have small-government policies on some social issues. We avoid having the state regulate adultery and crossdressing, so we avoid having state policies in those areas. The current laws on adultery and crossdressing allow individual liberty. The DA is proposing to allow local governments to set their own laws on adultery and crossdressing; local governments could try to make crossdressing illegal, or impose heavy and unnecessary penalties for adultery. Where the state has no policy is where I see individual freedom of choice.

If this bill is a modern view of civil liberties in the rest of the world, I can say that we do not want it in Lodamun.

MessageMr Speaker.

We do see the point in what you have said. I have consulted with Mr. Valentinn who is currently in hospital with two broken legs and two broken arms after falling off a cliff whilst cycling. He has stated we drop off article 1 and 3 but must keep 2 and 4.

We see arranged marriages as a medieval period ideology. As for article 4 we would like parents to raise their children as they see fit without red tape. And tests to see fitness. This should be an all natural happening.

MessageMr. Speaker,

While we are not opposed to these propositions, we find the rushing of these bills a little off putting. They fall into different discussions in our minds.

As for the remaining articles, just because someone can make a child does not mean they are responsible enough to take care of one. We are not willing to put our most vulnerable citizens at risk for this rather flimsy privilege of reproduction. The current value keeps children out of the hands out of those unfit for parenting.

Lastly, Arranged Marriage does come from outgrown traditions. Yet, they also tend to be stable pairings. They are not based of the fleeting passion of love. The stability of joining for financial reasons and familial duties builds a strong foundation. It's something that often grows into lasting affection and attachment. While we do not pretend to understand the ins and outs of arranged marriages, we do realize that it would be hasty to make them illegal.

As such, we will have to vote no this time around. We may change our stance at a later time. Please send our regards and best wishes to Mr. Valentinn, who seems to have been incredibly unlucky. May he recover fully and continue to do great work.
