Military equipment should only be made available to a standard police officer during an invasion or in attempting to restore order to a major violent uprising or riot. The head of the province that wishes to make use of military equipment for this reason should also need to draft a request for the equipment and get it passed by parliament.

I am open to this amendment but would like to hear from other parties before including it in the bill.

MessageMadam Speaker,

We are very concerned by the intentions of the TSTG with this bill as it would turn our nation's police into some kind of military force.

Random fact: Cabinet ministers who disagree seriously with the head of government would usually be expected to resign. Parties within the cabinet may attempt to manoeuvre to replace the head of government though, for example by proposing a new cabinet bill or voting for an early election.
