Bill: Stability Act - Judicial Issues - 3724
Details
Submitted by[?]: Great National Republican Guard
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: April 3724
Description[?]:
Re-proposing Articles 1 and 3 of the Stability Act: http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=416518 The Justice system was fine before it was liberalised. Now, we have a crappy justice system which serves no purpose. Even the international community is upset that the SLP administration was unable to step in to prevent the execution of Walter Schmitz. The Presidium had voted in favour of judicial reforms which completely removed the executive from the judicial system. Even the Justice Minister was excluded from the appeal process. There are 3 countries where the Justice Minister is involved in the appeal process, and Lodamun isn't one of them; they are Indrala, Lourenne, and Pontesi ( http://classic.particracy.net/viewvariable.php?variable=APPEAL ). The GNRG has consistently warned about the challenges of having an elaborate and complicated justice system. Let us get rid of it. It is unnecessary. Let us use the justice system which was working in Lodamun for centuries. Lodamun was stable all this time. For some reason, there was an attempt to fix non-existent problems. By doing that, real problems were created. The current unrest wouldn't exist if it wasn't for the liberalisation of the justice system. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, the budget for the Ministry of Justice was in our opinion never enough to maintain thecurrent system. We support this. Maria Murphy-Spaak representative for the Presidium for LNC |

Message | That is true, Mr. Speaker. The current justice system is a strain on the budget, and I wouldn't support increasing the budget. This is a better solution. An increase in the Justice Ministry's budget is a waste of the people's money on petty bourgeois procedures. -- Kevin Landau, GNRG Spokesman on Finance |

Message | Mr. Speaker, Lodamun desperately needs a fully-functioning, independent judicial system to guarantee fair justice for everyone. The provisions in this Bill would grant the President virtual dictatorial powers. Anything he says is a crime will be a crime, just as anything he says is not a crime will not be a crime. Message | Mr. Speaker, Why is that a problem when the representatives of the people elect the President, and have the power to sack the President? Do Hosians fear Democracy? Additionally, want to remind you that Walter Schmitz could have avoided execution if the President had stepped in. -- George Huddleson, GNRG Spokesman on Justice |

Message | Mr. Speaker, What the GNRG are arguing for is an elected dictatorship, and that is not the same thing as a modern constitutional representative democracy. They may be right that this law would have allowed the current President to pardon Walter Schmitiz, but we point out that it would also allow a President Fertig to convict or acquit any person in the country of any crime he could imagine. Dare we even contemplate such a prospect? Anton Rietveld Chairman of the Conservative Monarchist Alliance |

Message | Mr. Speaker, Lodamun isn't like typical presidential republics. In typical Presidential republics, the President is directly-elected by the people, and may not be removed from office unless general elections are called. In Lodamun, the Presidium can simply kick a President from office and elect a new one. This is a way to prevent a President from abusing his/her power. Besides, Mr. Fertig is a trusted man. -- George Huddleson, GNRG Spokesman on Justice |

Message | Mr. Speaker, I am not sure I trust a Gordon Fertig held to account by a bunch of ultra-nationalist cronies any more than I would trust a Gordon Fertig held to account by nobody. The man has openly said he wants all Hosians dead! Anton Rietveld Chairman of the Conservative Monarchist Alliance |

Message | Mr. Speaker, I see nothing wrong with that statement. Hosians are a threat to the safety of Lodamese citizens, and to the stability of the Great Democratic Republic. Presidents are held accountable by the Members of the Presidium who are all elected by the people. The CMA fears Democracy. -- George Huddleson, GNRG Spokesman on Justice |

Message | Mr. Speaker, We do not fear democracy, we fear tyranny - and tyranny seems to be all the GNRG and their cronies are offering this country at the moment. Anton Rietveld Chairman of the Conservative Monarchist Alliance |
