Message | Mr. Speaker, the point is that we teach our children what they can do and better shouldn't do. If we prohibit them stuff, they will do anything to try it anyway. Therefore we believe it is better not to forbid it and teach them it isn't good for them. Maria Murphy-Spaak LNC chairman |

Message | Mr. Speaker, Alcohol abuse is a significant problem amongst children and teenagers in Lodamun today. Children are even turning up to school with hangovers. How can she justify supplying alcohol to minors? This is madness! Ignatz Linden Social Affairs spokesman |

Message | Mr. Speaker, alcohol abuse amongst children was never a problem before. I would like astatement of the Minister of Education about the current situation. Maria Murphy-Spaak LNC chairman |

Message | Mr. Speaker, I cannot speak for the Minister of Education, but I can say that the concern of teenagers in Lodamun drinking has never been a Health issue for as long as I can remember. It is not in a state that would warrant the change. As an aside, you cannot ban something on the actions of a few reckless people. Could you imagine the uproar if we banned alcohol for adults because adults were turning up to work with hangovers? ~ Richard Mackenzie Upton Minister of Health and Social Services |

Message | Mr. Speaker, Another factor to consider here is that allowing the sale of alcohol to children undermines the authority of parents. When selling alcohol to children was banned, parents decide if and when children drank alcohol - and they could monitor it. Whereas under the present system, *anyone* can provide alcohol to children without any obligation to be responsible at all. Ignatz Linden Social Affairs spokesman |

Message | Mr. Speaker- While we understand the position of the Conservative Monarchist Alliance, we in truth believe an issue such as this is best left up to the individual provinces. That being said, the role of the national government cannot and should not extend to the point of prohibiting possession of a substance simply because it can become dangerous to the individual when consumed in excess. If we were discussing weapons or other instruments that can harm others, it is a different story. As it stands, we cannot allow our national government to stand in the way of individual freedom. Message | Mr. Speaker, We agree with the LL that adults should not generally be prohibited from buying alcohol, but we are talking here about *children* who deserve to be protected. Anton Rietveld Chairman of the Conservative Monarchist Alliance |
