MessageMr. Speaker,

The right-wing's health care privatization experiment must end. A purely private health care system has left those who cannot pay without access to life saving care. For several years the Commonwealth successfully operated a public health care system alongside a private system. We simply seek to reintroduce this option. We urge parties who would prefer an extreme in either direction to support this practical compromise. Under this legislation those who seek treatment in a private system will have access and those who cannot afford the private system will have government provided access.

Minister for Health and Social Services
