Bill: Food for the People Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Alorian Communist Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 2054

Description[?]:

It is vital that Aloria begins upon the process of collectivising its agriculture.

The current system see's wealthy farmers exploiting the labour force and making lots of money for doing nothing. Meanwhile, the labourers struggle to provide enough income for their families. At the same time, urban workers find it harder and harder to afford food as the farm owners carefully conspire to drive prices up to line their own pockets! Never mind if it forces the lower class to go hungry!

To capitalist nay-sayers, scared of departing from the status quo or upsetting whichever CEO is bankrolling their election campaign I say, in the first half of the 1980s, Hungary, with largely collectivised agriculture, exported more agricultural products than France from an agricultural area little more than a quarter of the French. This is proof that with the right attitude collective farming can work!

With a state-controlled agricultural industry we can lower food prices, provide a better living for those working on the farms and reduce dependancy upon our neighbours.

MessageAnd your argument about Hungary is totally outrageous - Hungary had the highest foreign debt in 1980's due to gulash communism eating all of the resources and borrowing outside. Facts, not just your ideas.

MessageWe wont run our entire economy like Hungary, I was merely showing that collective farming can work!

At the end of the day, farms that arent run for profit will make for cheaper food for the average person and better conditions for labourers on farms.

MessageI am shocked to see the 'Marxist' Party voting against this! Perhaps a name change is in order.
