Bill: Provincial Post-Secondary Education Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Federal Liberal Congress

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 3746

Description[?]:

Mr. Speaker,

Given the support this proposal gained in debate, we would like to present it to the floor as a private member's bill.

This is a motion with support from multiple parties in the house, it is great that in these trying times both government and opposition parties can work productively.

MessageMr. Speaker,

We are sure this proposal is well-intentioned, but we really think it is better to administrate our higher education system on a national level, so we can maintain standards nationally and make sure national needs are met. In the modern age, it should be considered almost as important for a government to run education as it is for it to run the army, navy and airforce.

MessageMr. Speaker,

We appreciate the concern of the CMA, and I assure him his concerns were taken into account when drafting this legislation.

All provinces will be required to operate National Colleges, that are uniform across Lodamun and regulated by the national government. The Provinces will use the remaining funds to open smaller colleges that will focus mainly on regional industries, these colleges will be accredited by the national government and held to certain standards. As these Provincial Colleges will be more accessible to rural citizens, it is the plan of the ministry to implement transfer programs, so that certain fields can do part of their education closer to home, before transferring to a national university.

We hope the CMA will find this to be reassuring.

Ryan Andrews,
Minister of Education.

MessageMr. Speaker,

While we do not often find ourselves agreeable to small government, this seems to be a very well-thought out proposal. We are happy to say that we would vote yes on this bill.

The cooperation among most of the parties, on this matter, calls for celebration.
