Bill: Legalizing Euthanasia
Details
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 3748
Description[?]:
We believe it is each individual's right to decide over their own life - if someone would rather not face a long time of suffering without any meaning, and have come to accept their situation, they should be allowed to end their life. A doctor's approval would be needed to make sure the patient is truly in a situation of no recovery and there should be absolutely no pressure to influence the patient's or doctor's decision in either way. |

Message | I think it is ultimately every person's right to decide over themselves, and forcing someone to stay alive against their will, when they know they will die anyway and only have a long time of suffering to look forward to is not ethical. Sometimes there is just nothing that can be done to make things better, and the only thing that can be done is to end the suffering. There are people who have come to terms with that, and who would rather end their lives when they are still able to communicate with their loved ones, than to have them slowly degrade away until death. There should of course be no pressure on anyone to take any kind of action, that is not the purpose of this bill, on the contrary, the purpose of this bill is to increase the rights of those who have decided to take action in a certain way, without reducing the rights of others. |

Random fact: When it comes to creating a Cultural Protocol in a Culturally Open nation, players are not necessarily required to provide a plausible backstory for how the nation's cultural background developed. However, the provision of a plausible backstory may be a factor in whether Moderation approves the Cultural Protocol if players in surrounding nations question its appropriateness for their region of the game map. |
