Message | Mr. Speaker, It is appropriate for Members of the Presidium to be paid a salary which allows them to support themselves and their families. Otherwise, people from less wealthy backgrounds will be deterred from running for election. Anton Rietveld Chairman of the Conservative Monarchist Alliance |

Message | Mr. Speaker, I think Mr. Rietveld is assuming that Presidium members will not get salaries. This law basically makes everything a Presidium member needs to pay for covered by state monies. That would include the support of their lifestyle and cover the keep of their family as well, unless I am mistaking the JDP's intent. ~ Rowan Argall FISH Head |

Message | Mr. Speaker, What does someone use his salary for? Don't people use their salaries for their expenses? Mr. Rietveld is crazy. -- Kevin Landau, Opposition Spokesman on Finance |

Message | OOC: I presumed this law meant MPs would have their working expenses paid (eg. cost of running offices etc.), not their personal expenses (home, food, etc.). Now this law has passed, though, I think we have an opportunity for some parliamentary expenses scandals :). The UK has had some of this: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom_parliamentary_expenses_scandal |

Message | OOC: It says all expenses, not work expenses. But I can understand the confusion. As for potential expense scandals, bring it on. |

Random fact: Moderation reserves the discretion to declare RP laws invalid if the players supporting them are doing so in an excessively confrontational way. |
