Bill: Dont Ask, Dont Tell Act- 3751
Details
Submitted by[?]: People of Freedom (P.F)
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: March 3754
Description[?]:
Proposal. Our party has had a tradition even under its previous forms and under my father of believing that this does effect military moral. And we hold firm. A policy of dont ask dont tell would assist in this regard. Focus of our soldiers should not be observing how sexy each one is but preparing for anything, training and war being ready for the inevitable. Raven Valentinn JDP Deputy Leader |

Message | Mr. Speaker, Soldiers would still "be observing how sexy each one is" but they won't tell each other that they're doing it. -- George Huddleson, Opposition Spokesman on Justice |
Date | 13:05:37, November 01, 2014 CET | From | Grand Nationalist Fraction | To | Debating the Dont Ask, Dont Tell Act- 3751 |
Message | Mr. Speaker, homosexuals are as much citizens as heterosexuals. We cannot agree with the proposal of not tolerating open homosexuality in the army. If someone is a homosexual, he or she should be able to be proud of it. Paul Murphy-Spaak Jr. LNC chairman |
Date | 14:14:34, November 01, 2014 CET | From | Conservative Monarchist Alliance | To | Debating the Dont Ask, Dont Tell Act- 3751 |
Message | Mr. Speaker, We support this proposal because the soldiers and the generals are overwhelmingly telling us that open, flamboyant homosexuals cause issues in terms of morale and unit cohesion. As a party, we bear no prejudice against gays, but we emphasise that the norms of civilian life cannot be applied to the very unique situation of army life. The two are very different. Message | Mr. Speaker, I don't want to hear the Hosian dogma. Maybe the CMA doesn't allow homosexuals in the HLF, but Lodamese Nationalism says that homosexuals are equal to heterosexuals and persons of other sexualities. -- George Huddleson, Opposition Spokesman on Justice |

Message | Mr. Speaker, We do not need to police sexual orientation in the military. This is ridiculous. ~ Rowan Argall SLP Leader |

Message | Mr. Speaker, I must dispute George Huddleson's ludicrous and slanderous suggestion that the Conservative Monarchist Alliance (CMA) controls the Hosian Liberation Force (HLF). As he well knows, there is no connection between the organisations whatsoever. I also dispute his suggestion we are saying homosexuals are somehow not "equal" to heterosexuals, because that is not true. It is simply that when it comes to defending our country, we need to make the right choices that will preserve our army as a unified, cohesive and effective force. Message | Mr. Speaker. Our party has nothing against homosexual relationships. However we believe there is a time and place for everything. And war is just not the time and a military base is not a gay club it is a serious environment that requires focus and seriousness. Not seeing how sexy the local commanders are. Matteo Powers Leader of the JDP |

Message | Mr. Speaker, then you'ld like the straight men and women seperated aswell? Paul Murphy-Spaak Jr. LNC chairman |
Date | 00:22:46, November 03, 2014 CET | From | Great National Republican Guard | To | Debating the Dont Ask, Dont Tell Act- 3751 |
Message | Mr. Speaker, I will ignore the comments made by the Hosian. I would also like to point out to my friends in the LNC that the JDP did actually advocate for the segregation of males and females in the military. -- George Huddleson, Opposition Spokesman on Justice |
Date | 01:23:52, November 03, 2014 CET | From | Social Libermuns Party | To | Debating the Dont Ask, Dont Tell Act- 3751 |
Message | Mr. Speaker, Anyone who cannot hold focus when someone attractive is in the room should not be in the military in the first place. That type of attention deficit just spells for disaster. ~ Rowan Argall SLP Leader |

Message | Mr. Speaker, My friend Rowan just needs to remember that the Hosian speaks from a Hosian paradigm. There is a Hosian view of what a male should be, what a female should be, and how sex should be. I continuously warn the Presidium about the dangers of allowing Hosianism to infect our society. My party's militant approach to dealing with Hosianism was not random or unjustified. We have seen how Hosians think, what they do when they don't get their way, and how they promote the idea that the laws and morals of their Hosian "god" are superior to the laws of the Lodamese state. If anyone should be banned from the military, or removed from the frontlines, it should not be homosexuals or females. It should be Hosians. We have seen what the HLF does. Hosians should not be armed. -- Gordon Fertig, Chairman of the GNRG, Opposition Leader |

Message | Mr. Speaker. I must remind everybody in this presidium that my party has different factions within it. Mostly right wingers. Conservatives of which represents a great deal of lodamuns views. I dont care about individual parties and their views. I care about the people. To show my support of same sex relations I will be hosting a party at my house in support of same sex couples. Anyway I must remind this presidium as well as my tenure as internal minister advocated the destruction of HLF. So GNRG words are meaningless. Extremist babble. However I do actually agree with Mr. Fertig regarding hosianism. Which causes a dilemma. Anyway we will leave schitzofrenic fbabble for the next debate. I will no longer comment on this issue. Matteo Powers Leader of the JDP |

Message | Mr. Speaker, I think Mr. Fertig is right in his assessments. He did give us fair warning, and we now have an unfortunate issue on our hands. ~ Rowan Argall SLP Leader |

Message | Mr Speaker, We really would like to know what is implied by "homesexuality is allowed". I f t simply meant homosexuals then fine but if it meant relationships among soldiers then, be they hetero- or homo- sexual we believe the military is no place for the distractions of any such relationships. Forgive me for appearing stupid but I am uncertain what is implied by both "open homosexuality" and "homosexuality is allowed" and this is pivotal to our final vote on ths matter. Message | Mr. Speaker, The proposal is to ban homosexual soldiers from making it known that they are homosexual, whether or not they form relationships. Homosexual soldiers will be forced to pretend to be heterosexual. -- Gordon Fertig, Chairman of the GNRG, Opposition Leader |
Date | 13:28:09, November 03, 2014 CET | From | People of Freedom (P.F) | To | Debating the Dont Ask, Dont Tell Act- 3751 |
Message | Mr. Speaker. This is a highly biased assessment of this act by the SLP/GNGR alliance. Basically homosexuality wont be discussed in the military. A place where war and strategy should be discussed. When soldiers are home they can do as they please and have as much homosexual sex as they please. According to Lodamuns current laws. Matteo Powers Leader of the JDP |

Message | Mr. Speaker, Homosexuality won't be "discussed" in the military? The proposed law does not say that. The proposed law does not say that soldiers can't talk about homosexuals. The proposed law says that homosexuals may not identify themselves as homosexuals. This is a ridiculous homophobic proposal. Even if it was banning the discussion of homosexuality, why isn't there also a proposal to ban the discussion of heterosexuality and other sexualities as well? Why isn't there a proposal to simply ban discussion of sex and sexuality? -- Gordon Fertig, Chairman of the GNRG, Opposition Leader |
Date | 13:23:59, November 04, 2014 CET | From | Liber Populi | To | Debating the Dont Ask, Dont Tell Act- 3751 |
Message | Mr Speaker, We cannot support this proposal. While we may support a proposal to ban any relations or talk of relations between BOTH Heterosexual AND Homosexual individuals within the military - for obvious reasons - we cannot support this. Furthermore we would like to point out that this bill would effectively be psychological warfare declared upon our own troops. These young men and women will have a hard enough time adapting to the Military and, where necessary, the horror of war - without feeling like the enemy, undercover in their own Army. Above all else the proposal to ban talk of ONE sexual inclination is illogical and therefore discrimination. Prejudice rather than the logical discrimination against all things sexual or interpersonal within a setting where it does not belong. Lee Birkett Caducus Orientis |

Random fact: Players have a responsibility to differentiate between OOC (out-of-character) and IC (in-character) behaviour, and to make clear when they are communicating in OOC or IC terms. Since Particracy is a role-playing game, IC excesses are generally fine, but OOC attacks are not. However, players must not presume this convention permits them to harass a player with IC remarks that have a clear OOC context. |
