Bill: State Reform - 3753/3754
Details
Submitted by[?]: Socialdemokratia Partio - Keruloismo
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 3756
Description[?]:
Article 1. We are not keen on expensive dual powers of a President and a Prime Minister. This structure could lead up to power struggles within Government and that is something the people of Zardugal could miss. Article 2. We think that the members of Congress should see their wages increased. The work of a MP is hard and long work, also travelling from his constituency and Belgea is highly expensive. The increase would also slim down the chances for possible bribe schemes. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The salaries of members of parliament and/or government.
Old value:: Members of parliament and/or government are entitled to a comparatively average salary.
Current: Members of parliament and/or government receive the highest salaries in the country, far above the salaries of other citizens.
Proposed: Members of parliament and/or government are entitled to a comparatively large salary.

Message | Mr Speaker, We whole heatedly oppose these so called reforms. While certain agreements can be made to work out issues of congressional compensation we oppose merging the current dual executive system. Our system works with a democratically elected President and with a Cabinet run by the Prime Minister. It is a uniquely Zardic system and one that has worked. It creates certain institutional checks and balances into our system to prevent wholesale changes to our political stability. Baltazar Martin Prime Minister |

Random fact: "Treaty-locking", or ratifiying treaties that completely or nearly completely forbid any proposals to change laws, is not allowed. Amongst other possible sanctions, Moderation reserves the discretion to delete treaties and/or subject parties to a seat reset if this is necessary in order to reverse a treaty-lock situation. |
