Bill: Organ Donation Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Conservative Monarchist Alliance

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: April 3756

Description[?]:

Organ donation is a wonderful thing and transforms lives for the better. I myself am on the Organ Donors Register. However, on ethical grounds, organ donation should surely always be a gift freely given. A person's body is sacred. It is not the property of the state to do with as it wishes.

MessageMr.Speaker,

We tried to get the same Bill passed previously.
As a party that are Atheist, logical, pragmatic and above all value human life we agree - Organ Donation is admirable and there is no logical reason not to be a donor - however that is OUR opinion and not the opinion of every citizen, due to religious or other personal beliefs.
How horrific if a family finds out that their deeply held beliefs are to be ignored and their grief worsened all because the victim was perhaps too young to even consider opting out.
We urge you to pass this Bill this time.
"OPT OUT" should not be the policy for anything as important as this, Organ Donation should ALWAYS be assumed as a serious issue to each citizen, ALWAYS be seen as choice, ALWAYS BE OPT IN!!
Please - for the respect of all our citizens - let them feel their government views them as free human beings with ownership of their own bodies, NOT as property of this Government unless they ask to be given freedom.
I am still reeling from the shock of this Bill not passing previously - just.....WHY?

MessageMr. Speaker,

I echo the comments of the CO speaker. Donating organs is a wonderful, life-transforming act, but it should always, always be voluntary. One point I would add is that if this Bill is passed, I hope the government will accompany it with a vigorous advertising campaign informing citizens about the change in the law and telling them about the benefits of organ donation. This, we hope, would limit the risk of increasing the organ waiting queues.

MessageMr. Speaker,

may we remind that donating organs currently is voluntarily. Everyone has the right to refuse their organs to be donated when they pass away. It's a very simple procedure to obtain that refusal papers.

MessageMr. Speaker,

Does the CMA realize that the law only affects dead persons? If you die, and your organs are donated to someone else, it doesn't transform your life; you are already dead.

And in response to the MP from the CO... Dead men have no rights in Lodamun. Unless a citizen specifically states that he does not want his organs donated one he is dead, his organs will be donated.

MessageMr. Speaker,

While we do think this would make paperwork and organ donation much more difficult than it needs to be, we would not mind voting yes on this proposal. As Mr. Anders Murphy said, it's basically the same thing with different paperwork.

George Huddleson seem noticeably lacking in respect and reverence for the dignity of the dead. And for that matter, also of the living...

MessageMr Speaker,

In response to George Huddleson - this matter does not only affect the dead(or not as the case may be) but the relatives. I - as a logical Atheist - personally agree that it does not effect your life after death,. However the dead pewrson has beliefs of their own which we -must respect as well as , above all else perhaps, the grieving family. As persons in the priviliged position we are in this is our duty not to be so non chalant about peoples personal beliefs.
