MessageThere have to be some standards. Be it standard of honesty, or standard of fair representation, or whatever... to allow ABSOLUTE freedom in advertising is to allow chaos.

How can citizens 'make their own choices', if they cannot put faith in the truth of advertising?

MessageThe RLP supports the ideals of this bill, but doubts that unregulated advertising will pass. There is insufficent trust in the abilities of the people of oru land to determine true from false in some parts of the Senate.

MessageWhy would citizens trust advertising of any form? It is designed to manipulate one into a business transaction. No matter how "true" ads may be, people don't fully trust them.

MessageThe AAS wishes that the JLP idea were supportable by evidence.... but, unfortunately, MOST people do seem to accept advertising as being, basically, true.

Seriously... people by Cola products based on a 'brand-loyalty' dedicated to one of two major 'images'... just for example.

MessageThe JLP asks the AAS: do you really believe that? I mean, if we buy a certain breakfast cereal, we will all have peace and tranquility in our lives? If we purchase a certain vehicle, we will be more manly or more intimidating or whatever else? Of course not.

Advertising works because companies get their product name out in front of the public. The public is more likely to purchase what it has heard of. People don' t believe in the power of a cola to enhance their life beyond tasting good during a game or removing the corrosion from the car battery.

Hey, maybe the JLP ought to advertise before the next election. Sorry, we digress.
