MessageMr Speaker,

We believe that the state should be separated from the Church. We don't think we should confirm nor appoint priests, archbishops or other religious functions.

MessageMr. Speaker,

Parliament is not appointing the Archbishop. The Council of Bishops, which is a group consisting of a bishop from each city, had convened and already chosen the Archbishop. This is only a resolution - with no political weight - that will simply recognize that Mr. James Bernard is the Archbishop of Strathport and is the man who will assist in the opening of Parliament for his entire life. That is all, and this particular bill doesn't bind the state and the Church. I will repeat, this bill has no political weight. In fact, it was my mistake for titling this as an act. This is a resolution, Mr. Speaker.

MessageMr Speaker,

In that case we support this resolution for once, until some reforms are made to clarify the role of the Church in our country.
