Bill: Legalising drugs
Details
Submitted by[?]: Liberty Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 2167
Description[?]:
Prohibition of drugs is illiberal as it interferes with the individual's right to make their own decisions. Prohibition of 'drugs' is hypocritical because it restricts certain drugs (like marijuana) but allows others (like alcohol and tobacco). Prohibition of drugs is bad economics because it interferes in the free market, reduces tax receipts and increases government expense. Prohibition of drugs is bad health policy because it makes it harder for addicts to obtain treatment. Prohibition of drugs increases crime because it artificially raises prices (causing addicts to turn to crime) and gives organised crime a large market in which to operate. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change The recreational drug policy.
Old value:: Recreational drug use is forbidden.
Current: Recreational drug use is regulated by local governments.
Proposed: There are no laws regulating what citizens can put into their bodies.

Message | Anyway, about the costs: Yes, it is going to cost more to maintain the laws against the drugs. Just as it costs to maintain laws and operate against other crimes. We in FKC do not want to decriminalize something in order to decrease costs. Of course, you had some other points as well, but we won't buy this hippie-propaganda. Think about it! Legalising drugs? This is too extreme and immoral for us to agree with. We hope our conservative companions in the other parties will share our opinion. Death to the philistine! |
