MessageOOC: I want to make sure everyone knows of this: from now on, terms begin on the 14th of whatever month the election is, so that's two weeks into the election month. In RP, this allows the people to be sworn in and for other RP procedural things to get done. Before, it was the 1st, but that would be very unlikely to happen in real life.

For example, the most recent election took place in March. The terms on the wiki for all the people start March 14.

MessageOOC: This is how the government works.

Executive = President + Vice President + Cabinet

Legislature = Speaker of the House + Minority Leader + Other floor leaders

The President and Vice President CANNOT be in Congress, but Ministers can so. The President and Vice President CAN attend Question Time sessions ONLY. They do most of the PR stuff and international relations. Vice President is more of a ceremonial role in the case that the President's player (OOC) decides to RP a death or whatever, then the VP takes over. The President is more important and he chairs cabinet. He is also HEAD OF STATE, so he conducts most of the foreign affairs and military things.

The Congress has a Speaker of the Congress who guides debate. The Minority Leader is the person in Congress who leads the minority party or minority coalition. Other floor leaders include (for example) Wolfgang Beyer, because Anton Hachtel CANNOT be Vice President and in Congress at the same time. The VRP is represented in Congress by their 87 members led by Speaker of the Congress, Marvin Wells. Marvin Wells is the VRP leader in Congress, not Joel Amos.

About elections, the Presidential candidate may be anyone from your party but if they are elected, they must quit Congress if they're in it.

Understand? Any questions, post below.

MessageOOC: Marvin Wells is the VRP leader in Congress, so yes, he represents Joel Amos and his constituents in Congress.

The President and Vice President can attend Question Times and can only speak on bills with "Emergency" in the title.

Random fact: In order for a Cabinet bill to pass, more than half of the legislature must vote for it and all of the parties included in the proposed Cabinet must support it. If your nation has a Head of State who is also the Head of Government, then the party controlling this character must also vote for the bill, since the Head of Government is also a member of the Cabinet. If any of these requirements are not met, the bill will not pass.

Random quote: "The 20th century has been characterised by three developments of great political importance: the growth of democracy, the growth of corporate power; and the growth of corporate propaganda against democracy." - Alex Carey
