Message | We strongly oppose this neo-liberal measure !!! Prisoners working for free will make maximum exploitation - and it will put a negative pressure on the wages of all of the working class. It is in the best interest of the working class this proposal gets rejected !!! |

Message | We strongly oppose this as well! It is exploiting prisoners and reduces them to little more than slaves. We urge all sensible parties to stand up against this legislation. |

Message | They're in prison! The cost to the prison service maintaining these prisons is extremely high, and then we are paying these individuals as well? Its madness! We are all for supporting the re-education of offenders and providing them with liveable conditions whilst they are under incarceration and we have also introduced a clause that protects these prisoners once they are released. All we ask in return is that these prisoners provide some form of payment to the state for the cost of operating these prisons. The type of work carried out by these prisoners can be discussed, we are open to all options, however as the law stands they can, if they wish, do nothing throughout their entire incarceration, with nothing being done to repay any debt to society, and are then released with no support whatsoever. This ammendment covers all these positions, and it is the position of the WSS!P that this ammendment is a requirement in order to strengthen the position of the prison service. |

Message | Prisoners will not be working for free. They will be working to pay for rent, food and clothing. The idea that the people of the nation must pay for the upkeep of these individuals, non-productive crimals, is an outrange and injustice. Further, the responsiblity of a regular job is an excelent educational and rehabilitational tool. |

Message | Add a clause that states that the prescribed jobs will give them skills that will benefit them in the workplace upon release and we will support. This could be a valuable law only on the condition that it better serves the best interest of the prisoner. The purpose of incarceration is to rehabilitate criminals so that they can properly function in a civilized society. |

Message | The maintenance of the buildings (not security items), the cloth and the food can be reducted from the wage they would normally get, but the rest they should receive !!! Camera's, security items and the payment of guards should be done by the state. We believe they should have a choice in whatever job they do, but that they are obliged to work "if it would be ideal cicumstances". The reality is that so many more people are not used in the production process, we have way too many jobless people and we should offer them jobs first. In fact, we plea for the reducing of the working week as such will allow involve more people in the production process. |
