Message | Supported Will give more people opportunities to live an agricultural life by creating more farms. At first it will take away profits from the huge plantations that we are breaking up, however the competition between the smaller farms will create better goods and cheaper goods in the long run. |

Message | With the way that this proposal is written, it appears that the owners of large farms will not be compensated for losing their farms. If I were a sneaky CEO of some company, I'd make absolutely sure that my farm not get larger than the arbitrary limit set by the law... There also is nothing implied about how these newly redistributed farms would be organized. If the farms are organized into collectives or co-ops, then great - we'd rather the people owned their land and shared the resources to profit from their land. If, on the other hand, individual farmers who may or may not have any business sense are thrust upon the free market, we're going to see many farms being overtaken by other farmers, which would be little different than the current situaton. Of course, this all assumes that the new farms are neither too large to be manageable for these farmers nor too small to produce a feasible living for the farmers. In short, the LSP votes NO. We like the idea, but it needs to be thought out more. |
