Message | We're wary about taxing essential items such as food and clothing, as it will negatively impact the poor more than it will the rich. Assuming both groups spend about the same amount on food and "non-luxury clothing," the poor will be spending proportionally a much larger percent of their income than the rich on taxes. Can you explain why we are reducing taxes on corporations? According to our economic fact sheet, we are currently in a deep deficit. Moreover, United Jakania, unlike some of our neighboring countries, does not impose an income tax. How do we justify cutting an essential portion of our revenue stream? |

Message | I think raising the corporate tax to 13% and luxury goods to 7% will be a good deal and will not be a strain on the poor. |

Message | Well the economic problem of Jakania is because of some changes and all those expenses on programs that we don't really need. Well I'll change this bill, and put it like DSF said, but non-luxury goods I'll put 1% because it won't be fair that only the 'rich' community has to pay tax. |

Message | Btw I think that we don't have the income tax because it's a part of a free trade treaty, I'm not really sure. |

Message | We think it is a mistake to tax essential goods, or to have higher taxes on luxury goods. This will cut in the demand sector, and gives more economical problems. Also, it is a tax specifically based against the workers. We propose 0% essential goods, 3-5% luxury, and 10-15% on corporations |

Message | Actualy, this is fair to the workers. I think that a 1% tax on essentials is a fair trade off and wouldnt harm the poor at all. The lower class doesnt need much luxury goods, they need the essential goods to be cheap and this bill keeps it that way. The rich however, who buy the most luxury goods will still be the biggest contributors to the system through the luxury tax and the corporate taxes. DSF supports we are calling for CPJ to support aswell |
