Bill: Space Exploration and Research Modernization Reform

Details

Submitted by[?]: Federal Green Party (FGP)

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: May 3812

Description[?]:

The Reform Option is a firm supporter of our national space program. It brings great pride and scientific advancement to our nation! With this in mind, would it not only be beneficial to open up space exploration to interested private companies as well? Doing so can help us achieve scientific advancements and other goals faster thanks to the forces of competition. Not to mention that we would have more great minds working on space exploration goals, surely this can only be a good thing?

One scenario: Say we have enough funding to establish a small outpost on a neighboring planet in 30 years. Now imagine that we allowed close cooperation with our national space agency and private industries. What if this allowed us to establish an outpost twice the size thanks to private investment? What if it allowed us to achieve construction of the outpost in 20 years instead of 30? There is no argument that can be made against improving space exploration efforts with the help of interested parties that wish to work closely with our national space agency to make the dream for exploration a reality!

MessageI have not done so at any point. We agree that they are efficient. The argument is that additional sources of funding and support for exploration efforts will make our space exploration efforts quicker. Efficiency is not the problem and this bill maintains our National Cosmological and Aeronautics Company in its current form. The only change is that it allows for private companies to also be involved in space exploration efforts via contracts with our national space agency.

Message"The NCAC has been given a mandate by this Senate to conduct it's work. We want to see that through and facilitate that innovation before restructuring the way that it is organised."

MessageAgain, this bill does not restructure the current space agency in any way shape or form. It simply allows them to give contracts to private companies to help them in their efforts.
