| The purpose of this bill is twofold: 1. It would enhance our military manpower as well as teach Solentians how to defend themselves and their nation in the case of attack. It would also be a way to move away from a purely Professional Military, instead establishing a Military that is made up of Professional Career Soldiers as well as regular Solentians. Creating more of a citizen's Military rather than one of a few professionals. 2. It would give those who choose civilian service the ability to boost their resumes after their schooling is completed. It can often be difficult for people to get a job right out of school due to lacking Resumes. This would give every Solentian something great to have on their resume as well as give them a reference from their job in civilian or military service. Beyond all of that, we have an aging population. Having national civilian service would assure that our retirement homes, youth sports clubs, and other social centers are well staffed. This bill would not force anyone to join the military. Rather it would give every Solentian the option of either military service or civilian service upon completion of their schooling. |
