Bill: Energy Reform Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Federal Green Party (FGP)

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 3813

Description[?]:

The Reform Option of Solentia sees no benefit in mandating the majority of energy be generated by nuclear power. While we should maintain our current reactors, there is no future for Solentia in the very long term unless we begin the transition to fully renewable energy.

To create one Nuclear Power Plant costs billions of tax dollars. Money that could much more effectively be used to create several solar, wind, hydro, geothermal, and other forms of renewable energy instead. Why would we want to use any form of energy source that will eventually run out when there are options out there for renewables? Options that are also much safer, we don't have to worry about disposing of any nuclear waste or a potential meltdown or other disaster.

Again, this is a gradual transition proposal. Nuclear Energy production stays where it is but we begin investing more heavily into research for renewables now, then we invest more into production over a period of decades. This way, when our nuclear reactors have to be shut down (as all of them only last a few decades by design), we will have renewable energy filling the gaps and won't need to invest billions into more Nuclear Power Plants.
