Bill: Entrepreneurial Reform Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Federal Green Party (FGP)

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 3813

Description[?]:

The purpose of this reform is to allow entrepreneurs to create their ideas without fear of these ideas or companies being taken from them.

Consider the following: I decide to open a small store. The store becomes very successful and after a while I decide to expand my store's size. Eventually it is so successful that I decide to build some other locations around Solentia.

At which point in the above situation do worker's councils take over my company?

The current laws strongly discourage any sort of entrepreneurial spirit that is necessary for a prosperous economy! Many people with good ideas would leave our nation in search of a country where they must not fear their businesses being arbitrarily seized from them. This puts our nation at a disadvantage to these other nations that do benefit from their ideas and their success.

Not to mention it limits the rights of consumers. Let's say the store in the hypothetical above offers products at 30-40% the cost of what other stores in your area charge. This is clearly an assault on these consumers who would be forced to buy the more expensive products. Someone on a tight budget needs all of the savings they can get! So let's allow consumers to buy what they want from whom they want!

Note: This bill does NOT privatize any current democratically-run businesses. They remain free to function as they choose to. The only change is that entrepreneurs would be free to actually own their businesses without worrying about it being seized by people who had no part in the idea or management structure of the company.

If we want to mandate that there be unions in all major businesses, this is fine and reasonable. But to have the ownership itself be run democratically instead of by the person who created the business? We see no reason why this should happen unless that is something the business owner decides to do.

Random fact: "Treaty-locking", or ratifiying treaties that completely or nearly completely forbid any proposals to change laws, is not allowed. Amongst other possible sanctions, Moderation reserves the discretion to delete treaties and/or subject parties to a seat reset if this is necessary in order to reverse a treaty-lock situation.
