Bill: International Travel Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: SUN

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: May 3814

Description[?]:

A porous border not only allows criminals in, it also allows them to escape justice. We present this proposal to the Senate to demand at least a cursory check through national and regional police databases before issuing a passport so we know the registrant is not a fugitive from the law, under investigation, or a suspected terrorist.

MessageThe Reform Option would vote in favor of this reform. It is important to keep our nation safe and to assure that people are who they say they are. Having a cursory security check before issuing a passport helps to reduce the spread of identity theft and keeps us safer.

Message"We are a party that supports the rights for people of our country to go to other countries and people of other countries to come to our country. Passports are necessary for that. However, cursory security checks may be necessary. If someone were to break a law in another country, we wouldn't want any confusion on who to punish or anything like that. We will wait to vote on this until more debate has taken place."
