Bill: Criminals right to vote must be regulated

Details

Submitted by[?]: Communist Revolutionist Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 3824

Description[?]:

Criminals have done their crime whatever reasons that may be,but they must stand away from political process for some time.We admit that criminals have their rights. But only after the period in prison a criminal learns how to behave, without allowing him time to settle his mind in a right way and pushing his right to vote as important- leads not only to destruction of moral concepts of society but also to the destruction of democratic govt. What happens a if criminals tried to support some one useful to their interest?.It may be not probable, but there is possibility.I think this bill will be taken consideration in the presidium.

MessageMr. Speaker,

Criminals are still citizens of this country, and they should have their rights recognised. What if hundreds of persons are imprisoned for political reasons? What if an unjust law is passed that leads to people being arrested? Criminal or not, every citizen must participate in the democratic system. Criminals in jail are already serving their time for whatever crime they committed. They are already being punished. To further strip them from their right to vote, in my party's opinion, is unnecessary.

MessageMr. Speaker,

We actually agree with GNRG on this. All citizens must be able to vote. Otherwise it opens the door to the slippery slope of an oppressive regime convicting people in order to oppress thir vote.

We believe in personal freedom of our citizens. And even being imprisoned citizens should still be allowed to make choices. These include voting. It is a democratic Right.

MessageMr speaker,

GNRG stated that if an unjust arrests occur the political progress may get weak, but what if the criminals started to decide people with their interests?you may say that it doesn't count, but yet it a possibility,a catastrophic possibility!Criminals in prison may not have the morality they needed to develop through imprisonment.Without this this may make the criminals too liberal, and their periods of imprisonment becomes a waste. This will weakens the democratic system of governance.Freedom is the right of a person to do good and it is only attained by his efforts. This takes time, criminals are citizen,i'am not neglecting that. But considering the facts before, you should consider the matter at utmost importance.

MessageMr. Speaker,

Morality is not standard. Different people have different senses of morality. What if nudity is made a criminal offence and nudists get arrested for not sharing the same moral values as an incumbent government? They should be allowed to vote for a party that wants to overturn the law. Some laws may not be just, so the reason a criminal was arrested may have been wrong in the first place. Many things have been legal or illegal before, and have changed since. Obviously some of the criminal code was okay and some wasn't.

On a more serious issue like rape or murder, I doubt we would see more than half of our population in prison for rape or murder, so I doubt they would have enough voting power to be able to change the law on something like that.

Random quote: "The problem is big government. If whoever controls government can impose his way upon you, you have to fight constantly to prevent the control from being harmful. With small, limited government, it doesn't much matter who controls it, because it can't do you much harm." - Harry Browne
