Bill: Cabinet Proposal of July 3820

Details

Submitted by[?]: Free Democratic Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill presents the formation of a cabinet. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. Traditionally, parties in the proposal vote yes, others (the opposition) vote no. This bill will pass as soon as the required yes votes are in and all parties in the proposal have voted yes, or will be defeated if unsufficient votes are reached on the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 3821

Description[?]:

"This cabinet may appear at first glance to be completely revolting, but we believe in the power of the people. In an LPS meeting last week, Donny Kennedy reminded me that the people voted the SUN into legislation, and it's only fair that they get something in the executive. Their moderate stance on Unions and Industry will make them a fitting minister of Trade and Industry. To be honest, Minister of Food and Agriculture doesn't take any major ideological positions to be selected. The SUN should know that this is their last chance at the executive branch. There's no way we will give you more spots than the ROS or SDP. If you want it, here is your chance. We selected finance for the ROS, and that's because people get alienated by some of William Paul's economic policies. The ROS has always been known to compromise on economic matters. They also get defense because we feel the Presidential party should also be the party of the Minister of Defense. We gave them infrastructure because they have some nice ideas in that area. The SDP gets Environment because they seem to be level headed and honest in that area. We gave them justice because generally they are fair and do not take favors from the rich in judicial situations. We also gave them foreign affairs because of their great negotiating skills. The rest were given to the LPS. Thanks for voting!"

~Ted Johnson, Head Chairman of the LPS and Prime Minister

Message"Let this day be noted that when the LPS tried to give a huge effort on negotiation, failure occurred. We didn't owe the SUN anything. We just wanted them to have a fair chance. They declined, and now we can keep the old cabinet which was pretty good."

Message"The LPS' attitude toward cabinet roles has always been unorthodox from the off. Even without seats in the Senate they demanded we grant them a voice in Government. Their continued arrogance only continues to grow with age.
The Unionists did not "refuse to give" anything to anybody; we found the strongest possible cabinet arrangement with the fewest parties each and every time. The LPS has always had a problem muddling together whatever alliances they could to cling to power; their desperate bumbling proposals (5 in a row really does smack of desperation) continue."

Random fact: In cases where a party has no seat, the default presumption should be that the party is able to contribute to debates in the legislature due to one of its members winning a seat at a by-election. However, players may collectively improvise arrangements of their own to provide a satisfying explanation for how parties with no seats in the legislature can speak and vote there.

Random quote: "Democracy is more dangerous than fire. Fire can't vote itself immune to water." - Michael Z. Williamson
