Message | It is all very well claiming that the market should determine what a job is worth, but we are going to end up in a position where things are going to be left undone, because they don't pay enough. The first day the RLP (JLP, PP, PSS) wakes up to find septic waste backed up into their bathroom, perhaps they will understand the significance. |

Message | Have you priced plumbers lately? There is no doubt in my mind that that profession will never suffer a shortage based on low wages. As to the more general point, we feel that it is more likely that jobs will be not done with a minimum wage, because the cost of doing them is more than the economic benefit of the job, and noone willbe willing to pay for them. As long as the market can determine the price, a job which adds value at a low rate can be priced at that rate. |
