MessageYou said you wanted two rates. Alright, propose your own bill with two rates then. Good luck.

MessageI admit the bill isn't ideal... maybe we can figure out some way to establish lower rates for ends. But we would have to raise taxes elsewhere or cut spending a good deal. We can attempt both of those things or a combination of the two.

MessageI will do the math to see if the middle class really does have to pay more with this proposal:

First off, someone earning 40,000 SOL would pay 1000 SOL in taxes or an effective rate of 2.5%. Currently this person would pay 1500 SOL or 3.75%.

Someone earning 50,000 SOL would pay 3000 SOL in taxes or an effective rate of 6%. Currently this person would pay 3000 SOL. So this person truly does not receive a tax cut.

Someone earning 60,000 SOL would pay 5000 SOL in taxes or an effective rate of 8.33%. Currently this person would pay 4500 SOL. So this person does have to pay 500 SOL more in taxes. You are correct.

Someone earning 70,000 SOL would pay 7000 SOL in taxes or an effective rate of 10%. Currently this person would pay 7500 SOL. So this person actually would receive a small tax cut of 500 SOL.

Someone earning 80,000 SOL would pay 10000 SOL in taxes or an effective rate of 12.5%. Currently this person would pay 10500 SOL. So this person would receive a small tax cut of 500 SOL.

Overall, I must admit that this is an unfair tax reform. We should certainly try to figure out a better reform if we are serious about going to two rates. I will continue to work on this idea and see what workable options we can put on the table. Where everyone would receive a small tax cut whilst maintaining a budgetary surplus.

Message"We care about the upper middle class, but we do think that less taxes overall is good. Why did Ted Johnson and Amy Smith comment on this? I'm not sure. It's my responsibility to do so."

MessageThankfully if we can get the budget bill passed this income proposal would not be necessary and we can instead cut taxes across the board.

MessageThis actually doesn't cut taxes, it brings in about the same amount in taxes as our current tax code. It only simplifies the tax structure to two rates instead of three.

Random fact: Party candidates for head of state elections are not visible to the public. This means that you cannot see who will run and who will not, which adds another strategic element to the elections.
