Bill: Pornographic Material Reform

Details

Submitted by[?]: Federal Green Party (FGP)

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 3826

Description[?]:

This proposal recognizes that minors have access to the internet. It would be very difficult and uncalled for to punish minors who view pornography. As such this proposal seems to be a reasonable change from current laws. If adults wish to punish their children for viewing pornography this would be up to them, no legal action should be taken against anyone who views consenting pornographic videos of adults (people 18 and older).

To accommodate this change we wish to leave production regulations and laws to local governments. This way a locality that wishes to be stricter on production could choose to do so without national government interference in the matter.

Message"No. Again, this waters the law down on protecting children. The criticism of the LPS' child abuse laws was not that children have access to pornographic films but that children were FEATURED in pornographic films. The Green's own credibility is destroyed by their insistence on protecting paedophiles by their alliance with the LPS."

MessageHow does this water down the law protecting children? If this law passes it does not change the fact that only consenting adults may be featured in pornographic films. We agree with you that minors should not be featured in the films, thus why we have proposed this reform.

MessageChildren can gain access to pornography as well via the internet. This bill would assure that they are not punished for viewing such material.

MessageChild pornographers could find no better friend than with the FGRP and LPS.

MessageHow so? What does this bill have to do with child pornographers? Not a damn thing.

Message"It allows paedophiles t expose young children to sexual imagery and pornography. The current law bars that. Children are protected from prosecution from the law, again I really shouldn't have to explain that to a legislator, and so even IF the courts decided to envoke that part of the current law, it is their guardians, parents or whoever they were in the care of at the time who would be prosecuted for negligence NOT the child as your fearmongering would have people believe.

Shoddy understanding of the law, shoddy protections for children, shoddy moral compasses. They ought to be ashamed of their lacklustre reaction to the pro-paedophile lobby that is the LPS. Current laws are the MAXIMUM protection for children. Anything less puts them at risk of abuse."
