MessageI severely object article 2. Couples aren't necessarily better parents.

Message"However children in care are vulnerable and need a higher amount of stability than children out of care. Adopting a child in care is a very serious commitment, we need that guarantee that there are two people working together to provide care for the child."

Messagethere is just as much stability in a 1- parent style than 2- parents style. Couples cannot always provide stability, if they are having a fight or they are getting divorced, creates more instability than stability

Message"Which is why there are checks in place when couples first begin the adoption procedure. This isn't about parent style or judging single parents who have had their own children; this is about the specific and special needs of children in care who are about to go through the adoption process and change family; who are more vulnerable and more in need of additional support. Two people providing that support is much more suitable for their specific circumstances."

MessageMost children who go trough adaption are 1. Very young and 2. When they are older, they don't care if it are two parents or 1 and two parent won't create a more suitable environment 3. You're reducing the opportunity for children to be adopted, because less can adopt children

Message"Is that a bad thing? It is much better to have less people adopting but have those who are adopting held to a high standard of care and support. The Unionists are outlining a quality platform for childcare in which parents are supported and those working with children are treated with appropriate checks and balances. Part of that is ensuring that vulnerable children in care who go through our adoption process are given access to adequate support. When you have one person adopting, you need to think about wider repercussions; the income they will need to support the child, the childcare needed if they are in employment, the provision for emergencies and emergency care...all of these factors need to be weighed up.

Nobody is suggesting that single parent families are not stable. What we are saying is that vulnerable children in care need access to a higher standard of provision and care that two people can sustain in the longer-term better than one person. I say this not as a politician at this point but as a single mum myself. If something ever happened to me, I would have expectations that my children were given the best provision possible by the State to ensure their continued development and safety. That is much more likely to happen, for children who have already gone through one stressful and traumatic event such as the loss of a parent, where two working adults are there to care for their welfare."

MessageThe desire to nurture and to share life as a family is a strong universal need that is felt by a large number of people and one that is not exclusive to married people or couples. And the latest research indicates that children raised in single adoptive parent families compare favorably with other adopted children and show a healthy involvement with friends and family as well as in the activities of their age group.

Don't rule out people who are desperately desiring for a child. And don't let children be stuck with no parents till they are 20, because there aren't enough couples!

Random fact: In order for a Cabinet bill to pass, more than half of the legislature must vote for it and all of the parties included in the proposed Cabinet must support it. If your nation has a Head of State who is also the Head of Government, then the party controlling this character must also vote for the bill, since the Head of Government is also a member of the Cabinet. If any of these requirements are not met, the bill will not pass.

Random quote: “Tell these old, grey men that their time is over. Tell them to give us back our future, and then get lost!” - Benji Benandez, former Dranian politician
