Bill: National Defense Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Democratic Alliance Party (DAP)

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 3830

Description[?]:

This act intends to strengthen the national army through progressive measures which boosts the nation's ability to fight, and secures the safety of citizens caught up in War.

It has been too long before there has been serious consideration for the military, and the DDA feels it is time to improve the military capabilities of this country.

(We would like cross-party support for this, as this is a national matter. Any concerns/objections need to be heard. This is NOT a declaration of war.)

MessageArticle 1: We are against, we need landmines.
Article 2: We support, we've tried pushing this law before.
Article 3: We are against, we should not try and be the "bigger man", if another nation uses nuclear or biological weapons against is, we should be allowed to use them against them too.
Article 4: We are also against as it makes more sense to do things by a base by base basis, that way there will be no loopholes.
Article 5: We are also against, as it is good to also have local departments.
Article 6: We support, seems like a good idea.
Article 7: We strongly disagree, the ends justify the means, we worked hard to legalise torture under grave emergencies.
Article 8: We also strongly disagree, this violates civil rights in our opinion.

We apologise that we can't agree on more points, especially as we're in a political alliance. But Choice cannot support most of these articles.

MessageWe disagree with the extent of the intelligence operations and the extent of the military's responsibility. As such, we are going to vote against this.

MessageSo you'd jeopardise our nation's safety just to make a few snooty foreigners happy?

MessageWhat part of our policy would "jeopardize the nation's safety?" We have sufficient enough resources available to defend our home.

Random fact: Moderation will not accept Cultural Protocol updates which introduce, on a significant scale, cultures which are likely to be insufficiently accessible to players. In particular, for all significant cultures in Particracy, it should be easy for players to access and use online resources to assist with language translation and the generation of character names. Moderation reserves the right to amend Cultural Protocols which are deemed to have introduced significant cultures that are not sufficiently accessible and which are not being actively role-played with.
