Bill: Let the work of the Church be untaxed
Details
Submitted by[?]: Likaton Fascist Front
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: October 2168
Description[?]:
True to our word, we are re-introducing this proposal. We are hopefull this time it will pass as the new makeup of the senate appears to be more friendly to religion. PSS will move this motion straight to the vote as it has been extensively debated previously. If the motion fails this time around, we wll not seek to try again until next election. Please, these are churches assisting people, not companies extracting profits. |

Message | The AAS must oppose... for the same reasons as before: 1) It is unfair to single out RELIGIOUS organisations for tax-breaks, while other not-for-profit groups continue to be taxed. 2) It is unfair to decide which religions are 'recognised'. For decades, the Sacred Order of Tears of Termani was considered a paganistic backwoods faith, and a 'cult'. |

Message | 1. Perhaps it would be worth considering that not-for-profit groups should not be taxed anyway. 2. 'Recognition' is intended to be a reasonably flexible term, we simply do not want the legislation misused. If John Smith and his family become the "House of the White picket fence of canine awarenes" (In other words, church of the dog lovers), we feel this is going too far. It is a reasonable assumption that these tax breaks only apply to recognised church gruoups. |

Message | The worry the AAS has, is that the Sacred Order of the Tears of Termain, MAY decide that there is only ONE 'recognised' church.... and we can all guess which one it would be... |

Message | We will support this as a step in the right direction, however we do share the AAS's concern as to the defination of recognized churches. |

Random fact: Moderation will not accept Cultural Protocol updates which introduce, on a significant scale, cultures which are likely to be insufficiently accessible to players. In particular, for all significant cultures in Particracy, it should be easy for players to access and use online resources to assist with language translation and the generation of character names. Moderation reserves the right to amend Cultural Protocols which are deemed to have introduced significant cultures that are not sufficiently accessible and which are not being actively role-played with. |
