Bill: Teacher led prayers
Details
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: January 3839
Description[?]:
Currently, teacher-led prayers in schools are encouraged. However we disagree with this. Although we would prefer them to be completely forbidden, we realise not many parties in the nation will vote in favour of this and such it would for now be pointless to propose this. So for now, we propose that the government leaves this decision up to the schools themselves. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, The LIP oppose this bill because of the religious nature of the country. Likewise, even though the government encourages prayer in schools, it does not mean that schools would follow said advice. I yield. |

Message | The religious nature of this country is irrelevant, fact is despite many people having religious views in our country, we should not be ramming religion down the throats of our children, in our opinion all prayer in school should be absolutely forbidden, however we have made a compromise and decided to leave prayer policy in school up to the schools themselves, prayer should not be encouraged. |

Message | Mr. Speaker, We are simply encouraging teacher-led prayers, nothing more. They are wholly optional. I yield |

Message | Yes, but by encouraging teacher-led prayers, some teachers may see that as an excuse to punish children who do not join in prayer. Not all children hold religious views. (OOC: I went to a Church of England School, and the assemblies and prayers caused a lot of problems, plus none of the children were religious, in fact I am not aware of a single person who went to that school whom hold any religious views other than myself (and I do not devote myself to one religion, I merely have a few views but I deny organised religion). Point is it caused more problems than it solved. My primary school was also religious, I knew one girl of African decent. I think she might have been Muslim or bushiest, I am unsure, but I know she wasn't a Christian. In primary school, the school allowed her not to attend assemblies due to her faith. However in our secondary school which was an official church of England school, the headmaster forced her to attend the assemblies, which for understandable reasons her and her mother did not take too well to. Her mother actually came into the school and had an argument with the head teacher, who has since left that school due to allowing a teacher to selotape children's mouths shut to keep them quiet. Eventually the mother attacked the head teacher, he's not exactly known for tactfulness and probably tried forcing Christianity upon the family. So by encouraging teacher-led prayer, some teachers may take it to extremes such as this man, thus this is why really we should forbid teacher lead prayer, but for now we should leave it up to the schools themselves. This is a true story by the way). |

Random fact: It is the collective responsibility of the players in a nation to ensure all currently binding RP laws are clearly outlined in an OOC reference bill in the "Bills under debate" section of the nation page. Confusion should not be created by displaying only some of the current RP laws or displaying RP laws which are no longer current. |
