Message | This bill represents substantial reform of the income tax system. The previous two band system was regressive and hit the lowest earners the most. This system means that the tax burden will be shared more equally among the population, with those who are able to pay more doing so and those on the lowest incomes (less than 1,500TPD) being taken out of tax altogether. |
Date | 21:28:49, May 12, 2015 CET | From | National Republican Party | To | Debating the Income tax proposal of November 3844 |
Message | A 50% top rate is unacceptable to the NRP. No one, whatever their means, should have to give half of all that they make to the government. The proposed bottom rate ought to be a few percent higher, and those making over 500 should contribute something like 6%. We hope as well that the government pair these income tax increased with proportional cuts in consumption taxes to spur more consumption. If we are going to take away more of people's income, then we should at least make goods a bit cheaper for the consumers. |
